Oh, the Snowmanity!

Bear with me, these are from a few weeks ago. I haven't really had a lot of opportunities to go out and snap pictures. Bette and I are not being very good bloggers, now are we? Well, she has a better excuse, what with moving in to a new HOUSE! But she's assured me that she will make a post giving us all a virtual tour once everyone is settled and unpacked. I already got one via Skype, and I thought it was pretty spiffy! A lot of wood paneling, but she told me it was worse when they first got in. But, no, you know what? I'll let her tell you when she gets to it :)

Okay, so these pictures are a little odd. I told you last post I wasn't very happy with a lot of my pictures lately, but out of, oh I don't know, 3 other outfit pictures, these are at least sort of useable.

Other fun news! I was in a play last weekend! The show is called "Melting" and it's one of fourteen 10 minute plays. Friday and Saturday night will showcase seven each, and our show kicked off the whole thing! The play is about two snowmen, Brice and Crystal, one of which gets a top hat, and he "turns into a pompous British tool". He puts on this really bad British accent and acts like the shit and I get pissed at this new him. And then I go to sleep in a huff, and he meets the sun, who quickly reveals the harsh reality that his life is finite, and that he will eventually melt. It's a funny little play about life and dying.
we're minimalist snowmen.

But seriously, it was a lot of fun being involved in something creative like this. I had been a long time since I had been on stage. The last show I did was the Vagina Monologues when I was a freshman in college. I used to always be involved in some artistic en devour, be it theater, dance, band, or art shows, but I haven't really been keeping up with it as I get older. Which is dumb, because it's not for lack of opportunity. I mean, maybe in some way. I'm not on a campus any more where there are shows and auditions every other weekend; I have to make more of a conscious effort to go out and find these things now. So this was good. I got my little theater fix :D
this is when the wind entered to steal his hat. cheeky bastard.
Oh! And I almost forgot to mention! Each night, the audience voted for their three favorite plays, which would do an encore performance the following weekend, and "Melting" was picked! So we're going on again TONIGHT! And a winner will be chosen tonight for a cash prize! I'm not sure if we'll get the coveted first place (there are a lot of very funny, very good plays we're going up against), but it's just going to be fun to give it one more go!

I was going to

Anna

Winter Wonderland

Last photo shoot Anna did for me. This is the outfit I wore for my birthday, minus the tights, (which were Anna's) and plus a necklace cause I meant to bring one but totally forgot that night. I really love this dress but I wish it was more of a day to day sort of dress. I mean, it's really nice to have a dressy dress. But the problem is that I have a lot of those types of dresses. I need the spring collection to hit my local thrift shops so I can stock up on some cuter attire.

The snow hit us really quick. The weather this year has been so crazy. It was so snowy and yet not that cold! So Anna, Storm, and me had a little snow fight in the backyard. Plus, we made a snow man.. type thing. hahaha Not really sure what to call it, really.

Don't make fun. It just started happening, all the pieces coming together. hahaha

I will say the bonus part of Anna leaving is the outfits she left behind. Spent most of last night trying on different combos. No, but I do miss her and now I feel like nothing interesting in going on here anymore. Who am I going to go out with now? I mean, I guess all the same people from before, but I won't have my best friend to get ready with and to share a joke with when everyone else is looking the other way. But we received an email at 4 am (here) saying she was there and that she was going out to lunch with her coworkers. I hope she can sign on soon and give more details about her adventure.

{Check out this cute necklace.}

Until next time,

SNOW DAY!

Finally we got some real snow! Happppppy! Forgot what snow brings with it though... COLD. haha I wish I could just have the beautiful snow without it only being 7 degrees out.

Jacket and headband are both amazing finds by Max's mom, Janine!

The sudden snow storm didn't stop Max and me from going on a lunch date on Friday. It also didn't stop me from wearing shorts. Ha! We went to one of our favorite restaurants, Al's Cafe and Creamery. And even though it was freezing out Max and I couldn't help but order milk shakes, they are the best! I got a chocolate with bananas! YUM! They have the best food there, ever. Al's is literally my favorite restaurant in Elgin and a go-to for birthday dinner several years in a row. I highly recommend you going there, if you haven't already.

Another problem with this snow is that I'm already a pretty clumsy person but when you add slick snow and shoes with no traction, you get a sad Marybeth after she fell on her butt. I've fallen a couple times already since the snow arrived on Friday and unless I walk slow and take baby steps for the rest of winter, there will probably be some more tumbles and bruises. : / I guess I don't really need to wear heels every where but.. you gotta pay a price to look good, right? hahaha!

Speaking of paying a price Anna and I are resting our poor toes and feet today after an amazing night in the city. We both wore heels and seriously didn't consider how much walking we'd have to do.. ha! But more on that later (with pictures!). I hope everyone is staying warm and enjoying the snow.

Auf Wiedersehen,
Marybeth
