Oh, the Snowmanity!

Bear with me, these are from a few weeks ago. I haven't really had a lot of opportunities to go out and snap pictures. Bette and I are not being very good bloggers, now are we? Well, she has a better excuse, what with moving in to a new HOUSE! But she's assured me that she will make a post giving us all a virtual tour once everyone is settled and unpacked. I already got one via Skype, and I thought it was pretty spiffy! A lot of wood paneling, but she told me it was worse when they first got in. But, no, you know what? I'll let her tell you when she gets to it :)

Okay, so these pictures are a little odd. I told you last post I wasn't very happy with a lot of my pictures lately, but out of, oh I don't know, 3 other outfit pictures, these are at least sort of useable.

Other fun news! I was in a play last weekend! The show is called "Melting" and it's one of fourteen 10 minute plays. Friday and Saturday night will showcase seven each, and our show kicked off the whole thing! The play is about two snowmen, Brice and Crystal, one of which gets a top hat, and he "turns into a pompous British tool". He puts on this really bad British accent and acts like the shit and I get pissed at this new him. And then I go to sleep in a huff, and he meets the sun, who quickly reveals the harsh reality that his life is finite, and that he will eventually melt. It's a funny little play about life and dying.
we're minimalist snowmen.

But seriously, it was a lot of fun being involved in something creative like this. I had been a long time since I had been on stage. The last show I did was the Vagina Monologues when I was a freshman in college. I used to always be involved in some artistic en devour, be it theater, dance, band, or art shows, but I haven't really been keeping up with it as I get older. Which is dumb, because it's not for lack of opportunity. I mean, maybe in some way. I'm not on a campus any more where there are shows and auditions every other weekend; I have to make more of a conscious effort to go out and find these things now. So this was good. I got my little theater fix :D
this is when the wind entered to steal his hat. cheeky bastard.
Oh! And I almost forgot to mention! Each night, the audience voted for their three favorite plays, which would do an encore performance the following weekend, and "Melting" was picked! So we're going on again TONIGHT! And a winner will be chosen tonight for a cash prize! I'm not sure if we'll get the coveted first place (there are a lot of very funny, very good plays we're going up against), but it's just going to be fun to give it one more go!

I was going to

Anna

Playing dress up.

So recently I went thrifting on my way home from work. I probably shouldn't have since I'm about to move out and, therefore, don't need any MORE clothes to pack. But 1) it was pay day, 2) I hadn't been in a looooong time, 3) it was on my way home from work. How could I resist?

Anyway, I was really excited about my purchases and I really wanted to show Anna all the cool things I got. But we've tried to show each other clothes over Skype and it just doesn't work. We usually have a bad connection and even if we don't, you still can't get a good detailed look at the article of clothing. So I decided to do a post about it. Now, I might have had a little too much fun with this assignment. I LOVE playing dress up. So take a peek at the newest additions to my wardrobe and let me know which is your favorite outfit! :)

Strange Fruit

Strange week. I had orientation this week, which was an experience: new people, average lectures, no drinking at a far away resort. No school, so a vacation of sorts. Broke up with my boyfriend when I arrived home. It was overdue. A painful thing to do, but necessary. I was listening to the song Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday before I made this post, therefore, the name of the post. I'm kind of strange and the week has been kind of bittersweet....

I wore this to work on Thursday, and took pictures as I walked to meet some friends for a birthday shindig (happy birthday, cathy btw!!). Favorite dress, old heels, star wars pin. Nothing outrageous. Beautiful day.

Sharing the limelight

Anna sure has been posting a lot lately. But that's okay. I just haven't had the time! It was my birthday on Sunday!! YAY! Finally, I'm 21! And it's been awesome. I love not having to feel bad about not being old enough anymore!! Although, since I still haven't gotten my new I.D. yet a lot of people have looked at it, opened their mouths to say something, realize I actually AM old enough, and hand it back. But I can live with that. :]

Necklace: Thrifted

We didn't take a lot of pictures on my actual birthday because we're really celebrating it THIS weekend with a trip to Chicago and going to see Second City. After midnight, I did go out to a bar for karaoke though and then I hit up Elgin's casino boat where they gave me a free case of Coke and a first AID kit (which I forgot in Brooke's car).
I also won .60 cents! After losing $15.. haha I guess I won't have to worry about a gambling problem. I did not like losing my money. But Brooke (Max's sister) won some money and so did a couple of my other friends, so that was good. After the casino we went to another bar a little more well known where they play country up until 2 am but the night we went, at 2 am mind you, they were still playing country. We tried to dance a little bit but it was line dancing... haha not my kind of dancing.

And so Sunday afternoon my family, Max, and I went out for brunch where I got a little drunk on two drinks. haha Had to come home and take a little nap after those two. I still had homework to do for Monday because my lazy self put it off. So I started that a bit until I went to Max's house for dinner. We had make your own tacos, which were AMAZING! Plus sweet wine and Janine made us shots of marshmallow vodka and Bailey's (dangerous combination, but SO GOOD). Plus we got to enjoy skipping through the super bowl to watch the commercials. :D I will admit right now though that my homework was finished with a brain that was definitely under the influence. haha Good thing it was opinion based questions. Max's dad, Bill, took some shots of us taking shots. Hope you enjoy. :]

But MORE pictures are to come this weekend. Hopefully on Sunday. I am SO excited!!
