Unofficial halloween and official halloween!

Two weeks ago I went back down to Carbondale to visit my bestie Kaley. We had a hoot and then a holler. I did forget to bring my camera, however. UGHUGHGUUGHHHH! So most of the pictures are from my phone. Let's see, where to begin? Carbondale is beautiful this time of year and since I stayed there a day longer than I usually do we had more time to do adventuring. We went hiking, to an apple orchard, a winery, a festival, lots of naps, and then the usual bar hoping and being best friends. :]

The above pictures were taken at Giant City State Park. It's named that for a reason, the place is crazy huge! On Saturday we just drove through it and I have never seen anything like it before so I definitely wanted to go back on Sunday so we could actually get out and explore.

On Sunday we also were planning on going to the Blue Sky Vineyard so after we hiked I quickly changed into the outfit I had packed and Kaley took some pictures for me. I couldn't resist. The place was so beautiful.

That day we had also gone to the Wakonda vulture festival where I bought a couple things, some for Anna. :) Unfortunately one of the items I bought was this really cute dress that ended up not fitting me. Bummer. But I'm holding on to it in the hopes I can one day do something with it.

{I'm not cute. I know}
And here are some of the pictures of the vulture fest. This town was seriously the cutest. Very country and but also hippy-ish. My favorite part was that there were dogs everywhere! Even at the vineyard there were people with their dogs. Now that is my kind of town. They also were selling some really amazing stuff. Everyone seems so creative. I hope Anna likes what I got her.

Somethings were really beautiful, like this crazy fairy door.

Somethings were a little weird... not sure what's going on these doors.

On saturday we went to an apple orchard. Not what we were expecting exactly but we got some yummy apple pie, apple cider, and apple bread!

Now here are a few photos that survived the weekend!

This is a picture I took from the roof top of Kaley's boyfriend, Phil's apartment. I climbed up there and threw a pumpkin off into the parking lot while they all cheered. Not sure where that idea came from but even though I was really cold up there it was also really pretty. I'm surprised my iPhone took sure a great picture. You can even see some stars and that was the best part because the sky was so clear and full of all these glittering stars. Amazing.

Oh and here is an almost empty glass of the moonshine Phil's cousin brought him. I did not personally partake in the drinking of this concoction, but I could smell it and I watched them all dive in. Looked awful.

It was such a fun weekend. I miss Kaley. Hanging out with her that weekend was like hanging out with Anna. She's seriously like a sister to me. It also made we miss Anna cause the year before she had been there too and it's so easy for us all to be together. I love it.

Then this past weekend for Halloween Brooke, Sam, Max, and I had people over to our house for a Halloween party!
I spent a large portion of the night being a dead body on the floor so I didn't as many pictures as I would have liked but here's a few to show you how this night went...

It was a very interesting night that went on until 4:30 am! Our house was a frickin' mess afterwards, but it was so much fun. I can't even remember it in it's entirety but from the looks of it, we had a blast! Best part was our haunted basement entrance, hence being a dead body. Check it out! Looks kinda weird seeing as how I had to use the flash but, trust me, it was scary with creepy sounds and fog and everything!

Spooky huh? Well, that's about all I've got. Catch ya on the flip side!

Floral Corduroy

Well, Mama Flores has come and gone, my friends. We did a bunch of stuff that I will soon share with you, BUT since we used her camera and I OF COURSE forgot to upload her pictures to my computer, I can't write a post about it just yet. I could get them off facebook, yeah, but there are some she didn't add that the world should see (google "Love Land Jeju").

In the meantime, though, here's a new dress I bought for 5,000 krw (5 bucks) at a resale store of some kind in the nearby Toona. Woo! I had to cut off the band around the sleeves because apparently my big American biceps were too much for them. I should have tried hulking out of them, but, eh, I used scissors. Also, my grandma sent me a pair of new sweaters, Ma bought me a pair of cool boots, AND a new pair of headphones since my rebel alliance ones have worn out. OoOoOh new stuff. Thanks, mom and grandma!
 -Anna-
dress: Toona resale shop (Korea)
sweater: Old Navy? (gift)
tights: I don't remember...
headphones: Bucheon Uplex store...
boots: Itaewon, Korea
(I'm bad at remembering things today)
bustin' out the crimson lips.
So as soon as my mom can send along some photographs via email or carrier pigeon or whatever, I'll have up a loooong post all about our adventure and you can pretend it's the first time you're hearing about any of it.
Because maybe it will be.

Sweetly and sincerely,
Anna

What time is it??

ADVENTURE TIME!!

So here's how it went...
It was a beautiful day out. I had to work. Of course, right? So on what seems to be the last nice day for a while, I'm stuck inside with no windows. Luckily enough, however, I got out of work early. So I ran straight home (yup.straightsprinted), got my adventure clothes, camera, newest book, and headed out to the river. What happened later was to be expected.

I frolicked. For hours I climbed, crouched, jumped, fell, and read. It was an extremely beautiful day and I was joined by many a jogger and biker. None who wanted to be in my pictures though. :/ This is the bike path that goes through South Elgin along the river. Used to be where Liz and Wrigley roamed, but now it's where I go almost every day and each time I walk or bike it, I find new places that I want to capture. In the picture above is this luscious patch of tall soft grass. I laid out my jacket and read for a little bit.

Top: No idea.
Bottoms: Thrift
Shoes: Urban Outfitters
Tights: Forever 21
Earrings: Goodwill
Book: Through a Dark Mist. Don't know anything about it. Just grabbed it. S'alright.

Finally, after many different locations, I came upon the spot I had longed for.

The worst part, though, was having to turn around and go back.

But tomorrow is another day. Another day that I have off. Another day that will probably be rainy... YAY! So now I'm back home, alone, comfy in Max's game room, with music blasting, and The Lorax waiting to be watched. Hope you are all having a great day. Anna needs to make a big, HUGE post about our mom's stay. She'll be home on Sunday. :)

On a cold Monday night...

I decided to write up a post. Here's an outfit from tonight that I wore out to dinner with Max. Fun facts: I took these in our backyard, our neighbor saw and totally called me out, it was super awkward and embarrassing. haha

~Marybeth~
Shirt: Forever 21
Jeans: American Eagle
Shoes: Ross
Necklace: Borrowed from my mom
Watch: Gift

On the 29th Max's parents hosted a murder mystery night that was super hero themed. It was a hoot. I was Shiver with the powers of ice and Max was Stingmata with the powers of poison, Brooke and Sam were Blue Blaze and the Wisher. When the time came we all jumped into one car and drove over to their parents house. Stopping at the stop lights was the best because people would look over and see...
Janine had made the most delicious food too, as always. She made some very potent rum/wine drinks with fruit. Very good, but very strong. haha Just like I like 'em!

Then she had appetizers, main meal, and dessert! She went all out and always does a great job at playing her part, which is always the host. She's really good at not giving anything away. Here are a few shots I got from Bill of all of us being crazy. haha

Embarrassingly enough, I had bought that dress a couple years ago online cause they girl modeling it made it look really cute... not so much in real life... Perfect for this party though! The night went great and we always have so much fun. Cannot wait for Halloween. Oh, and I can't forget the after dinner shots of rumchata, my new favorite!

And this weekend my cousin, Corbin, came to visit from Virginia. On Friday we got lunch and I showed him the new house. We just hung out for a while and it was really nice to catch up with him. We used to be really close when we were young, always picking on Anna. haha It's weird being so grown up now especially thinking of him being a father!! It was good to make some new memories to go along with the old ones. :) My best friend came home this weekend as well. Max and I went out to the Filling Station in St. Charles with her and her boyfriend. We met a few of his friends, Max got hit on by a table of guys, and then they came back to our place to hang out some more!

I'm going to go down and visit her in 2 weeks for SIU's unofficial halloween. Pretty stoked for that. It's kind of a big deal and it's awesome because the past couple years that we've gone we haven't been 21 so getting in was no problem, but getting drinks was another thing. Then again, there was that one year I ended up crying in a Jimmy John's at 2 am dressed like a dog and eating ice cubes, so I can't say it was too hard to get trashed... Can't wait to see what this year brings! :D All for now! Hope Anna and our mom are doing okay!
